Local Farmer’s Markets on Maui

Traveling means you have the opportunity to experience new cultures, meet new people, and try new foods. A local farmer’s market is an excellent place to do all three of these things. Choosing to buy local when you travel also helps the community you are visiting flourish so you can come back and enjoy the area again in the future.

While you’re on Maui, there are many farmer’s markets where you can buy local products. The items you will find at Maui’s many farmer’s markets range from local, organic produce to unique products made by local artists. These farmer’s markets are sure to fill your reusable bags with sustenance and souvenirs.

West Maui

West Maui includes Kaanapali, Lahaina, and Kapalua. If you are staying in this area, the Maui- Honokowai Farmer’s Market is the pace you should go.   The Maui - Honokowai Farmer’s Market has an indoor store that is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. They have delicious acai bowls, smoothies, juices, and bagels for sale every day. The outdoor market is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. They offer fresh produce options at the outdoor market. Acai bowl at Maui Farmer's Market

South Maui

South Maui includes the areas of Kihei and Wailea. If you are staying here, the closest farmer's market is the Lipoa Street Farmer’s Market on Lipoa Street in Kihei. This event takes place on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You can enjoy whole foods such as avocados, figs, Hawaiian honey, pomegranates, and kombucha. There is also live music at this market in the heart of South Maui.

Central Maui

Central Maui includes areas such as Kahului and Wailuku. There are two farmer’s markets in this area. The Maui Swap Meet is held at University of Hawaii Maui College on Saturdays from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event is home to not only area growers but also talented craftsmen and artists. This swap meet has been a favorite among many since it began in 1981.

The second is at Kumu Farms in Waikapu. It is held every Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kumu Farms can be found at the Maui Tropical Plantation where they have 60 acres of farmland to cultivate over 35 crops. They have a variety of delicious crops such as basil, apple bananas, green beans, corn, papaya, sage, cilantro, and parsley. You can also visit the Mill House restaurant on the Maui Tropical Plantation while you are here. They serve farm to table dishes using multiple ingredients from Kumu Farms.

Upcountry Maui

Upcountry includes Makawao, Pukalani, and Kula. The Upcountry Farmer’s Market is hosted here at the Kulamalu Town Center on Highway 37. This farmer’s market is on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. They have been serving Maui’s Upcountry community for over 40 years and host a large group of local vendors. Not only does this market offer a diverse selection of produce, but also a variety of prepared meals, breads, cheeses, kombucha, and acai bowls made with local ingredients.

East Maui

The Hana area in East Maui has two market events. The Ono Organic Farms Farmer’s Market is located on the Road to Hana. At this market, you’ll find local coffee and chocolate beans, as well as jellies, jams and 100% fresh organic produce. It is open seven days a week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Maui Coffee at Farmer's Market Hana Fresh is another market in this area. It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday. It takes place in the Hana Health Center Parking lot. Proceeds from sales go towards Hana Health programs.

You can also find many local vendors at Maui Fridays. Each Friday of the month, different towns host local designers, musicians, and food trucks.
