The Story Behind the Stories

The transportation infrastructure of the physical world has reached a breaking point. Access to information and entertainment flows to our fingertips at gigabit speed, yet the physical world around us is stuck in the past. Ground logistics are choked by congestion, crumbling roadways, and soaring gas prices.
At Zipline, we’re building a delivery network through the sky to give people faster access to the things they need. This collection of films explores what’s possible for humanity when distance loses its power.
Zipline’s origin story
Mountainous terrain, traffic congestion, and unreliable power grids make access to blood a critical challenge in many parts of the world. In 2016, Rwanda placed a big bet that Zipline delivery could solve its blood distribution crisis. Ten years later, the data tells a clear story. Patient deaths that were once a daily occurrence at rural hospitals are now routinely prevented: Zipline-serviced hospitals in Rwanda have seen a 51% reduction in maternal mortality. Life-threatening medical stockouts are now a problem of the past: stockouts of medicine and vaccines have been reduced by 60% where Zipline delivers.
What began with blood delivery in Rwanda has since expanded to an instant delivery system that serves tens of millions of people. We’ve completed more than 3 million deliveries across more than 140 million autonomous miles flown to date. Zipline’s footprint is growing around the world, providing on-demand access to medicine, vaccines, agricultural supplies, food, and everyday goods. Zipline is on a mission to build an autonomous logistics system that serves all people equally.
